I have been using maxi bales for over 2 years. I keep 18 snake species including DWA. My animals thrive on the shredded card no matter the locality they are from in nature. The card is highly absorbant even if a large boa or gaboon turns over a 2 litre plus water bowl. Before maxi bale, I've had large water spills make it to the front of the viv and blow the melamine edge of the viv. No longer a concern since using maxi bales. Cost is very competitive for keepers keeping a large collection in decent sized vivariums. I like the look of the card when in viv but this might not be everyone's cup of tea. However, thats personal choice. Delivery is always prompt and service is excellent. Using this product is all pros and no cons in my book. Leigh 02/09/2023

Repticard Maxibale - after kindly receiving a few samples of this papelit and using another source, I put them together to photograph,no real difference, works brilliant for my snakes they burrow and make nests in it, great for when they go toilet, not as much mess and hides smell well. On the whole a great product and works better than the usual snake substrate on offer from most places, i am very pleased with this and will order more and have reccomended to many.

Well, what can I say…. We have been trialling this substrate with various different animals in our collection and that we have been keeping recently. We keep and breed Ball Pythons, Burmese Pythons, Reticulated Pythons and Boa constrictors. We trialled the substrate with every species we keep and had some mixed results. On the whole we found the substrate a brilliant alternative to newspaper. Although the benefit of newspaper is that it is cheaper/in some cases free, in man hours this substrate was worth every penny. It is super absorbent, smell reducing, practical to clean and very easy to maintain to the standard we are happy with.
Our animals appeared to find the substrate comfortable and went about themselves as usual. Even some of our non-feeders felt more comfortable in this substrate as they could bury themselves in it very well and were a lot more secure and began feeding. Also, I am sure every large snake keeper knows the peril of large snakes flipping their water bowls. Whilst using this substrate none of our animals managed to flip their dishes, as they could so easily do with using newspaper. It was a godsend!
The first time we had an animal shed on this substrate it didn’t work out too well… The animal ended up with loose shedding all over its body and was very agitated. For those who haven’t ever tried, getting stuck shed off of an 18 foot Burmese python is NOT fun! We found as the animal was close to shedding we found giving the card just a light spray before the animal shed worked wonders and the animals were able to move through the substrate and shed VERY well!
In regards to feeding on this substrate the animals did not ingest any of the material. They managed to feed just as normal as when using newspaper. Compared to other loose substrates such as aspen, this product also gives off no dust, which I found to be a big bonus with this substrate. I keep the majority of my animals in racking, with the exception of 4 or 5 vivariums. Currently EVERY animal we own, which currently is around the 200 mark, are now housed on this substrate. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking at using a substrate other than newspaper for their animals. A brilliant substrate, which everyone should sample! You will not be disappointed!

I have been using Repti-Card for a few weeks now, though I have about 12kg of Aspen which I am still using up. What I have used so far has impressed me no end and I have started to change over to Repti-Card as I go and keep the Aspen as a stand by.
